GTA 6 launches November 19, 2026. Let’s take the tour.

Every Main GTA Game

Grand Theft Auto (1997)

It all began top-down. The original Grand Theft Auto put players behind the wheel across three cities — Liberty City, Vice City, and San Andreas — long before those names became gaming icons. Its open-ended crime sandbox proved a radical idea: the city itself could be the star.

Grand Theft Auto 2 (1999)

The sequel stayed top-down but sharpened everything: gang loyalty, a city that reacted to your chaos, and the freedom to play rival factions against each other. GTA 2’s Anywhere City was grimy and experimental — a cult favorite that kept the series hungry.

GTA III (2001)

Liberty City went 3D, and gaming changed forever. As the silent ex-con Claude, players explored a fully three-dimensional open world where they could go anywhere and take anything. GTA III did not just define open-world design — it became the blueprint an entire industry would follow for decades.

GTA: Vice City (2002)

Tommy Vercetti stepped out of prison and into the 1980s: a pastel-soaked, Miami-inspired Vice City of neon, synths, and excess. The soundtrack, the style, and Tommy’s ruthless rise to the top made Vice City the coolest game of its era — and arguably the most beloved setting in the series.

GTA: San Andreas (2004)

Carl “CJ” Johnson came home to a whole state. San Andreas spanned three cities and vast countryside, with character growth, turf wars, and a story of family, betrayal, and power. Its sheer scale and ambition still set the standard for how big an open world can feel.

GTA IV (2008)

Niko Bellic arrived in Liberty City chasing the American Dream and found a grittier, more grounded saga of war, guilt, and loyalty. GTA IV’s darker tone, cinematic storytelling, and living city made it the series’ most mature chapter — and a technical marvel of its generation.

GTA V (2013)

Three protagonists, one sprawling Los Santos. Michael, Franklin, and Trevor’s interwoven heists pushed open-world storytelling further than ever — and then GTA Online turned the game into a living platform that has thrived for over a decade. It is one of the best-selling games of all time for a reason.

GTA VI (2026)

The series comes full circle. GTA VI returns to Vice City — now the beating heart of the state of Leonida — with dual protagonists Jason and Lucia in a crime story built for a new generation. Rockstar’s launch trailer lit the internet on fire, and the goal is nothing less than the biggest game launch in history.

GTA 6 on Glanteen

Everything Glanteen has published on the road to launch, all in one list:

The Cities of GTA

Four places that define the series:

Liberty City

Rockstar’s stand-in for New York — the series’ original metropolis, from the 1997 original through the 3D revolution of GTA III to Niko Bellic’s gritty 2008 homecoming.

Vice City

The Miami-inspired neon paradise of pastel suits and synths — Tommy Vercetti’s 1980s playground, and now Jason and Lucia’s home turf in GTA 6.

San Andreas / Los Santos

From a single city in the 1997 original to a whole state in 2004, and finally the sprawling Los Angeles-inspired Los Santos of GTA V and GTA Online — the series’ biggest canvas.

Leonida

The new state on the map. GTA 6’s Leonida centers on a modern Vice City and its surroundings — the darkest side of the sunniest place in America.
