GTA 6 Release Date: Is It Delayed Again? (Live Tracker)

Last updated: July 19, 2026

TL;DR: GTA 6 is officially set for November 19, 2026 on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. Take-Two has reaffirmed this date multiple times through 2026, including as recently as this summer, and CEO Strauss Zelnick has said no further delay is expected. As of now, there is no official change to this date.

Current Status: On Track for November 19, 2026

Rockstar Games first announced the November 19, 2026 date last November, after the game’s original 2025 target slipped to May 2026 and then again to this fall. Since that announcement, Take-Two has confirmed the date repeatedly:

  • February 2026 earnings report: Take-Two listed GTA 6 in its official product lineup with the November 19 date, calling it part of a “highly anticipated launch” driving projected record revenue for fiscal 2027.
  • May 2026 interview: CEO Strauss Zelnick told a reporter asking when GTA 6 was really coming that the answer was simply “It’s November 19, 2026.”
  • May 2026 earnings call: Zelnick told investors the game “won’t be delayed again,” and Take-Two said it expects roughly $8.2 billion in revenue next fiscal year largely because of the launch.
  • Recent shareholder update: Take-Two again referred to a “planned November 19 launch,” language the company typically reserves for dates it considers locked in.

Marketing for the game was expected to ramp up over the summer, which most industry watchers read as another sign the date is holding — Take-Two has said it doesn’t spend on marketing until it’s confident a release is close.

Why People Keep Asking If It’s Delayed Again

The skepticism is fair. GTA 6 has already slipped twice:

  1. Original target: Fall 2025
  2. First delay: Pushed to May 26, 2026
  3. Second delay: Pushed again to November 19, 2026, announced alongside Take-Two’s earnings in the fall of 2025

Rockstar’s own statement at the time of the second delay said the extra months were needed “to finish the game with the level of polish you have come to expect and deserve.” Given that history, it makes sense fans aren’t taking any date for granted until the game is actually in their hands.

Is GTA 6 Delayed to 2027 or 2028?

Short answer: not officially. There’s no confirmed statement from Rockstar or Take-Two pointing to a 2027 or 2028 release. Those dates circulate mainly as fan speculation based on the game’s history of slipping — not as anything sourced to the companies themselves. We’ll update this section immediately if that changes.

What Happens If It’s Delayed a Third Time?

Rockstar hasn’t addressed this directly, but Take-Two’s public messaging has gone out of its way to rule it out — repeatedly telling investors and press that November 19 is locked. A third delay this close to launch, especially after marketing has begun, would be unusual and costly for Take-Two given how much of its fiscal 2027 outlook is built around this date.
